Just wanted to drop by and say hello!
So ... hello

I am 22, I have been an avid bookworm for years, since I could read at all. I love my life, my dogs, my friends and my books. I have a mentally handicapped younger brother and was left alone through a lot of my childhood. Books have always been there for me, I can go anywhere and be anything inside the pages of a book.
Right now I am reading "Commited" the follow up, I guess you could say, to "Eat Pray Love" (which I also read) it got me through some hard times before it even became a best seller. I have great respect for any author that can reach me in such a profound way, Elizabeth Gilbert is one of those wonderful people.
I also just finished "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand, one of the most inspirational novels I have ever had the pleasure of finding.

I have been a member of a few online book clubs but have yet to find one that I really enjoy, if you'd leave me a msg telling me why you enjoy this site I would really appreciate it.

Thanks and happy reading
In light and love
Kay

This is way more than a book discussion site.

Kay, stick around for a bit and get involved and you'll see why. Throw your 2 cents in constantly and you'll get plenty of feedback. Don't be afraid to argue and debate as you'll meet plenty on here that love to do the same. Exchange ideas and offer up your own views. It's a lot of fun to toss around ideas and discuss issues which are sometimes socially unacceptable in other mediums.

I think once you realize that you can truly be yourself, that you can say what you really feel and not what others think is proper, you'll start to re-build yourself and find out what you really think about some stuff that you never realized you just 'accepted'. Have an open mind and you'll benefit a great deal from it all.

There's a lot of smart people that cruise through this website. It's a melting pot of free ideas - so don't be put off by someone who has some strange views. They're probably just trying to figure things out like everyone else. With that said, there are nut jobs on here too but they're mostly Canadian. ;)

Welcome to BT! :)

Thank you!

I am excited about this site, it seems really interesting and I can't wait to start reading, as soon as I finish up with the books I have on the go at the moment.

Thanks again for the reply, I look forward to getting involved

Kay

Hi Kay. Welcome to Booktalk. Since you mentioned Elizabeth Gilbert, I thought you might be interested in watching this video. It's a short (19 minute) speech by Gilbert, in which she "...muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses -- and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person "being" a genius, all of us "have" a genius."

Welcome to the community. :-)

I think President Camacho summed it up well. We're a pretty open and honest bunch here. Dive right into the discussions and don't be shy. We'll make you feel right at home.
