Hello Book People

Hi! I'm a lady from Massachusetts. My hobbies include pyrography (which I sometimes sell), sketching, scrap booking, making steampunk hats (which I once sold), rock collecting, writing (which I also do for a living) and cooking (which I also eat). I enjoy quite a variety of genres, but I especially enjoy non-fiction, horror and classic literature.

Full disclosure, I found booktalk while looking for ways to promote a new short story I entered into a pretty cool contest run by an upcoming company. It works on downloads, so I was hoping to share it around. However, I also use a lot of social media and just like to talk books on every site I find from GoodReads to Reddit, so I created an account here.

I know the guidelines mention that newbies should not post unless they plan to interact. I absolutely do, but I strongly rely on email notifications to let me know where to respond because I'm so busy online. If I take awhile to respond, I checked the wrong notifications box or something.

Anyway, thanks for having me.

Welcome to the community!

I had to look up pyrography. One of my friends used to make fish on boards for a few years and they turned out rather impressive. Feel free to post some photos of stuff you've created. I'd especially love to see your steampunk hats!

Thanks! Here are a few of the things I've made recently.

This is a coffee table/chest I'm working on for our living room. Still haven't had the guts to burn a huge ship into the front of it.

This is a castle I made for my sister.

This is a steampunkish style hat I made my father.

Hi Shelobstrosity, and :welcome: . Like Chris, I had to look up pyro-whatever; :? I do know 'pyro' means fire. When I was a kid, I had a 'wood burning' kit, but was never very good at it. Your work is outstanding. As for steampunk, I enjoy reading it, but not into the costumes. :-D Looking forward to some good discussions.

Thanks! I need a lot more practice, but I have fun doing it, which is what counts. I look forward to talking to you all as well.

Wow, cool designs! You're very talented. :-)

If you have more please share them. I love everything to do with the fantasy genre. Steam punk is pretty cool too.

And I noticed you voted in the Fiction poll. Are you really going to participate if the Stephen King book wins?

Thanks!

Yes, of course. I spread myself kind of thin, but I will certainly participate.
