Bookcrossing, anyone?

I came across this site a few years ago and thought it was a great idea, so I thought people here might like to know about it.

It's basically an anonymous world wide book swap.
People put books in various places and list title and location on the site.

I just realised it's also in the list of 100 places to find your next book link posted by Chris.

It's also a permanent link on our LINKS page at http://www.booktalk.org/links.php

But add links any time you see good sites that might interest our members.

Have you ever actually left a book somewhere specifically with the hope that a potential read will discover and read it?

I haven't actually.

Mainly because the site shows that very few books actually get found in Brisbane, so I haven't wanted to throw away any books.

The idea of throwing books out worries me too so I usually just donate old books to libraries. They in turn sell them for very cheap.

Yeah, I volunteer at a community run bookshop and would give them books before I left one out in the wilderness.

Bookcrossing is a great idea.
However, I'm afraid that I just find it impossible to give my books away! Even the ones I didn't like, let alone these that I enjoyed or loved.... I just feel happy to have many books all over the place! Although my boyfriend doesn't feel so happy, when we move and he has to do most of the carrying them around.....
