Fiction recommendations

Two really good fiction books that we might consider for a forum include:
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson
If anyone has read these, I would be interested in their opinion.

I read Life of Pi a few years back, and I found it tobe an amazing read. It's definitely on my re-read list. Now, some of my friends at the time said that it was hard to get into, boring, etc., but I think they were just full of it.
It's a really interesting book. It flows well. The ending is incredible, and I would love to see it on a reading list.

I have to agree, I am also a fan of "Life of Pi". I would be most willing to participate in a discussion on this book. We would need to move it into it's appropriate forum. I am thinking the fantasy forum, Suzanne, what catagory would you place "Life of Pi" in?

What is "Life of Pi" about? It's about a little boy on a boat in the middle of the ocean with a tiger! That's all I'm saying. The beginning is a bit dry, but it is informative and important. The ending, well, as Krysondra said, is incredible.
Do you guys want to set it up?

Two by Cormac McCarthy I thought were very good, No Country for Old Men, which was discussed here, and The Road.

"All the Pretty Horses", Cormac McCarthy was good too. I think any book from him is a good pick. I have not read the other two in the trilogy.
"The Road" was a nomination in the last poll, maybe it will come up again.
Has anyone read "What is the What" by Dave Eggars?

Life of Pi is a great book for discussion. I studied it last year at university and there is a lot more to it than meets the eye.

Is this tongue in cheek?
Life of Pi is a work of literature and is anything but a fantasy.
To say it is a story about a boy on a boat with a tiger doesn't do it justice.
It's an exploration of our need to be human; to separate ourselves from animals.

Life of Pi would make for a great discussion. Sounds like you would have much to offer.
Believe we have not discussed it yet, why don't you pop it into the fiction sugesstion forum to be considered for our next read? Please use the Fiction Book Suggestions & Polls forum, or it will become lost when the summary is made.

My horror novel Shadows of Souls is heavily steeped in the Jungian tradition. It makes many twists and turns as the reader embarks on a journey into terror.
