Holiday sign showdown in Lakeland

Two groups are trying to teach two very different lessons this holiday season with signs.
Boyd Pridmore, 79, created a yard sign five years ago, which he now distributes to people and churches across the country.
It reads, “Jesus is the reason for the season. Merry Christmas."

This month, a similar sign started appearing in yards across the Bay area. Its message is quite different. The Atheists of Florida created them.
"Our purpose is to say ‘Look. There are a lot of world views out there’,” said EllenBeth Wachs, Atheists of Florida spokesperson. “Please just acknowledge that."
Their signs read, "Mithra is the reason for the season. Happy Winter Solstice"
