agreed 100%. Everyone needs to vote.
Disagree with almost everything else.
I have already addressed a lot of these issues at length in other threads. I will provide links where appropriate.
Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin represent everything that is useless and stymied in America. These are the representatives of knee jerk reactionary, jingoistic, superstitious gut voters. People who vote based on their feelings rather than an understanding of the situation. Being folksy, or screaming like an idiot at a black board does nothing to effectively address the real problems of our country.

Make no mistake, Fox “news” is nothing but a direct media outlet for the conservative right.

It is a propaganda tool used to bolster the positions of the republican party and produce a sense of legitimacy for outright non-sense positions when they are spoken by allegedly non-partisan “news” personalities.
One thing it certainly is not, is “fair and balanced.”

Financial debt
The country certainly is in dire straits.
Consider this.
http://www.booktalk.org/republican-plan ... t8922.html
Republicans have had control of the congress and presidency, to one degree or another for the last eight years. During which the gross mismanagement of our economy drove us back from the brink of saliency under president Bill Clinton. View the links. Reagan shot the deficit into the air like it was a high flying cheerleader. Clinton made headway in correcting that trend, then Bush Jr took over and it looks like he was trying to create a topographic map with his budget. Almost strait up.
Obama is being blamed for our bad economy when it is George Bush who started two wars of aggression, wasting billions of tax dollars and borrowing from other countries to pay for them. George Bush instituted obscene tax cuts which cost the united states 700 billion dollars a year. 700 billion dollars a year that also had to be borrowed from foreign powers, increasing our debt while padding the pockets of the super-rich.

Of course this is a tremendous burden to lift.
The perception is that Obama has increased our national debt, thanks in no small part to the constant haranguing of fox news. The truth is that Bush’s last budget had a 1.416 trillion dollar deficit. Obama’s first budget reduced that debt to 1.29 trillion.

Obama care
http://www.booktalk.org/national-health-care-t6866.html
So all of the Obama health plan is a gross misuse of funds, except that part which applies to you? Surely you see the hypocrisy. I would say “put yourself in their position” but you already are in that position. You know the difficulties inherent with our medical system. You know the insane, senseless hurdles you must jump, the heartless, processed assembly line of for-profit health care. Extend that line of thought to the others who go without. You never said it, but it certainly lingers in the air that this is just part of the socialist agenda. That is a boogie man from the 80’s and I would hope we have grown up enough to no longer fear the monster under our beds. There is nothing scary about socialism. Just ask our seniors about how terrible socialized medicine is. Or our troops. Or Europe.
The tea party.
The tea party’s primary message is outrage. Is it any wonder they work so splendidly with Fox “news” who’s whole business model is based on scaring the crap out of its audience with trumped up hyperbolic scare tactics, and stoking the fires for the Professionally Offended.
Ask yourself this.
Why is everyone so upset about spending money to take care of our people? To make sure the sick people are healed, to teach our children what they need to succeed, to reduce the leverage the top 1% of the country wield over the powerless masses.
Why do the tea partiers hold rallies to shout down free health care, but we never saw a peep out of them when it came to the expensive killing of brown people?
NOW they are outraged? NOW they call down the authority?
Starting two senseless wars against a concept. (fighting a war on terrorism is no different than fighting a war against murder. There is no headquarters for a mode of behavior. No leadership to topple, no training camps to dismantle.)
Abuse of presidential power, signing statements, outing our own spies for cheap political revenge, actually shooting a man in the face, with the VP’s own trigger finger, and nobody says boo.
Try to heal the sick and destitute and there will be hell to pay with the tea partiers.
