Re: Mosque near Ground Zero
Christian religious fanatics are using this issue to persuade Americans that we should forget our constitution and practice prejudice. Believe me, they - Christian religious fanatics - are a tiny minority in the world wide protest on this matter. So tiny in fact that they are not even on the radar....

Re: Who is reading or plans to read this book?
Oh, that book. It's been sitting in my massive "to be read" pile for a year or so. The "peoples" :D in one of my other more serious literary clubs really dissed it something awful. The general consus there was "don't bother". Described it as "phenomenally uninteres...

Re: Why don't we read?
My situation is the polar opposite. I can't put my book down.
That's why I joined BookTalk. I expected to talk endlessly about books, books and more books.
The way to my heart is a good book or a gift certificate for many.

Re: What next?
I find this entire phenomenon amazing. 1,000 people love it and 500 people loathe it yet they've made a movie out of it with Julia Roberts on a book that's always had lukewarm ratings (at best) from the get-go. I wondered where Julia went these last years - where did she go - overseas for mucho plas...

Re: What next?
Eat, Pray and Love received very severe and conflicted reviews when the book first came out. The synopsis didn't exactly knock my socks off and that's why I've yet to read it thus far. A real love/hate thing going on with that book based on initial reviews. I'm only reading 2 books now and am totall...

Two New Questions - Mosque near Ground Zero
Is the Mosque actually going to be built on Ground Zero? Is that why everyone is up in arms? I have more questions but they're even more politically uncorrect than this post. :? I was under these 2 impressions (hearsay) but I could be dead wrong, natch: 1) That a park or some kind of memorial was bu...
