down to earth, Dick Feynman seems like a person who would have been good to know.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Started reading "Game of Thrones, Book 1 - Song of Ice and Fire". The writing is good, scene descriptions are good, however the author introduces 30 character names in approx. 38 pages. It's confusing. I feel a little lost, feeling like I should have already read a book before this one...
My reaction is "who is he?, who is this one? wait, who is..." etc., etc.,
I felt like I should be taking notes,
, reading on...

If you want a taste of the brilliance, honesty and humor of the man, I would recommend, The Pleasure of Finding Things Out. I dip into it frequently, whenever I feel the need to be inspired or just need a lift.Taylor wrote:Dick Feynman seems like a person who would have been good to know.

Hitchhikers Guide- I read it when I was about 14 and don't remember a thing.
Along with the first GoT book. Not too hooked yet, but we'll see!

Currently reading "InfIdel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. My mom gave it to me after her and my dad's book club finished it.

Re: What are you currently reading?
Thank you for pointing that out DWill. I am reading from my nook, and it has "Great Expectations" as 800 pages long! I found another copy and it is actually 460 pages long. So I figure I actually read about 250 pages. Sure felt like 400. I think I can finish it now. I usually read a Dickens novel each December. This is the first time I have been disappointed with one of his novels.DWill wrote:I was surprised to hear that you quit after 400 pp. Suzanne, because I had remembered GE as actually a fairly short book compared to Dickens' others (of which I've only read David Copperfield).

Re: What are you currently reading?
I haven't read Great Expectations, but I can say that Dickens' last (incomplete) novel, The Mystery of Edmund Drood, is really quite good.Suzanne wrote:I tried to read, "Great Expectations", Dickens, but the novel did not meet my expectations and I abandoned it after 400 pages. I hated to do it, but it was just too boring. Does anyone have any good reasons for me to pick it back up?

Re: What are you currently reading?
As is not uncommon for me, I am reading multiple books: "Innocence," the latest thriller from Dean Koontz; "I. Asimov," his memoir/autobiography, written shortly before his death; and "1776" by David McCulloch. This last is an audio book I listen do while I work out.
