Taylor, you sound mentally exhausted from Trump's time in office and the pandemic. Me too. It really took its toll on my mental well-being. I've never felt like I'm surrounded by stupid people more than I do today. It scares the heck out of me.

Yes, we don't have any justification for assuming this pandemic is nearing the end. God I hope it is but I'm afraid a new mutation will sweep over us soon that makes Delta look mild in comparison. There's just no way for laypeople like me to know so I'd rather refrain from opining. But I definitely can appreciate the optimism. I wish I could share it.

I'm at the point where I actually want to get Covid. It sounds inevitable that I will get it anyway and my booster shot was a couple of months ago. Now, while I still have protection from the booster, might be an opportune time to get it.

Yep, I agree. My wife, son and I all caught Covid even thought us adults were fully vaccinated and boosted. Our 11-year old boy caught it prior to being vaccinated. His symptoms were milder than the common cold. Mine was like a mild cold. But my wife was pretty miserable. My thinking is that I caught it outside of the home and received a small viral load. Maybe I passed someone and breathed in some airborne particles. But then my wife laid in bed with me at night and continually breathed in what I breathed out so she had a larger viral load and more significant symptoms. She said at times it felt like someone was sitting on her chest and it brought her to tears. Very hard to watch. But still nothing close to needing to go to the ER.

Most people I know have had Covid and their symptoms were like mine - very mild. My wife got it the worst. If you do get it don't panic. The odds are you'll be fine. Just stay home and watch NetFlix.

My step-father died from Delta in September, along with ~80 patients at his rehab of ~90 patients, all in the same month span.

I probably had the original strain in March 2020, having the symptoms, but there were no testing kits yet.

My "elderly" mom and I have had 3 vaccine shots each and have pretty much stayed at home everyday for almost 2 years now. We only go to have groceries placed in our vechicles that we ordered online and wear N-95 masks for doctor visits.

Hopefully Omicron is the last pandemic wave so I can hang out with friends again soon. At least I've had time to study and sleep.

Jim, I forgot about your step-father having Covid. You're right. And now that I think about it I know a few more that didn't make it.

Many of my mom's friends or their spouses didn't make it. I know a few people whose parents didn't make it.

I have to remind myself how in early to mid 2020 videos were shown from all over the world of stacked bodies, sometimes in refrigerated trucks, waiting to be burried. And hospitals overwhelmed.

Besides all the doctors and scientists I watched on YouTube, there were many videos from people who currently had Covid-19 talking about their symptoms, which were usually really scary.

March 18th, 2020. This video (among others) helped shape my initial understanding of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Cy L Nunez, 56, Vallejo, CA, anti-vaxxer. Dead from COVID.
Updated: 6 days ago

According to this page on facebook, Cy is dead. He died from COVID.

I'm just going to get out of the way and let Cy tell his story, his way.

Cy's COVID story in 3 acts.

Act I: The Plan -- Documenting the effectiveness of HCQ
Act II: "Do I look sick?"
Act III: The epiphany that came too late

And then he died.

RIP Cy.

PLEASE don't comment on his Facebook page. It needs to stay there forever. Besides, he died in September so it's not going to do any good to comment there. Keep your comments here.

Finally, this will be a easy badge to earn. You simply must watch these. Watch all three videos in order and get a "Do I look sick?" badge.

Sharing stuff like that surely has an impact on anti-vaxxers. I mean it has to right?

It sucks seeing him so sick and nearing the end. I think we all know people like Cy and we struggle to not offend them and lose our friendship but also we try to break through and get them to make the right choice. It is so hard. I have several anti-vaxxers as friends and I have given up trying to influence them. My efforts so far have jeopardized my relationship with them.

What is upsetting to me is that 100% of the anti-vaxxers I know are Republicans. This issue should never have become political but it did and now we have millions of scientifically illiterate conservatives filling our hospital beds or blocking our highways with their semi-trucks. As if there isn't enough to worry about in this crazy world we have to now deal with our own friends and family members killing themselves.

But not 100% of the Republicans you know are anti-vaxxers. There was a large division of Republicans who mistrusted the MSM, Fauci, and others from the beginning and then later when mRNA vaccines came out. A lot of uniformed B.S. being spread. It hurts and is embarrassing to me that many went that way. I fought against their misunderstandings and was outcast.

Just like many Dems embrace the insanity of wokeness, critical race theory, socialism and other harmful ideals and philosophies, it is dragging down this country. But dead anti-vaxxers = less Republican voters.

Before Covid...
I used to think even though the divide was wide and strong, that at least there was some shared commitment to improving the nation. Smaller government Vs. active government - different viewpoints towards improvement? Lower taxes Vs. more equity - different paths towards a perceived better future?

But now...
Nearly 1 million American deaths - almost equal to the deaths in WWII plus 9 times the Vietnam war - are dismissed as a hoax.
Minimizing that devastation is anti-patriotism that disparages the sacrifice of veterans.
Americans deeply confused about freedom claim it as a right to spread a disease as we once claimed it to own humans.
Investigating American history fearlessly triggers white victimhood which legislates to ban such inquiries.
Violent assaults on the peaceful transfer of power are considered legitimate political discourse.

Something is broken.
I no longer care. I'm disgusted.
If America devolves into an autocratic dynasty, a cult that worships power, that is what we deserve.
As Covid waned, we set the stage for Delta. As that waned, we set the stage for Omicron. C'mon folks with a little coordination, we can create yet another Covid wave!
