Here's one that no one has read because it's new.
Tiana Dokerty's Chronicle of the Knights of Joshua, Book I The Order Of The Black Robe is a wild ride. It is spec fic, a picture of central Europe of the middle ages if the Roman Empire had never happened (think Romulus and Remus eaten, not nurtured by the she-wolf).
It is a cruel, combative world, of warring Principalities and government change by intrigue and assassination. Human sacrifice, children taken into brothels in repayment of debts, bizarre sexual rituals in the worship of "The God Of This Age".
Yet there is a small group of knights and their families who follow another God, the one introduced by that barefoot teacher in Palestine some 1,000 years before, whom they call "J'shua". They go through the country, preaching when they can, fighting when they have to, They protect the innocent, slay the evil and stand up to tyrants.
Yet there are a lot of very human stories here. It is not all swashbuckling swordfights, although there are certainly enough of those for those who like that. The unflappable little girl who is kidnapped: we know by whom but where is she? The Melazeras, who govern Frieslicht "from the shadows" by manipulating the King, infiltrating his officer's corps, poison and sheer ruthlessness. The young royal couple, who think they can change all the corruption and murder around them by the strength of their love - for each other and for J'shua.
It is available on Kindle and Amazon - and well worth looking for!

Another that no one has read because it is new (about a year old).
It is The Money Cure by Linda Peer. Again, you can find it on Amazon and Kindle.
This is another Spec Fic book, my favourite genre!
It is set in 2035. It is the more frightening because you can see a lot of trends in current affairs worked through to their abysmal conclusions.
No one except the rich have homes. The "underclass" majority pay gangs for protection and parking space every night, so they can sleep in their cars.
All employment is precarious and casual. Most people just struggle to survive everyday.
An overbearing State tracks everyone everywhere - through their phones, CCTV cameras everywhere, etc
The Money Cure - commonly called "the cure" or the "abysmal reversal" - is a medicine that breaks people's addiction to hoarding money. A revolutionary group - yet another one in a society struggling with "the Antifascist Furries", "the Candies", and many others - begins kidnapping the billionaires who have monopolised almost all of society's money and forcibly administering the cure.
The story is of an ordinary underclass hustler, trying to stay above water with her wacky entrepreneurial schemes, who falls in love with the brains behind the revolutionary group and gets charged with "bioterrorism",
Peer's wit and sarcasm, as well as her emphasis on the human feelings of her characters, and on the details of their lives in trying to cope with this society, makes The Money Cure eminently readable and good fun into the bargain!
