Hi booktalkers !

I'm Tahel, 21 years old, a med student in my first year, living abroad so I'm kind of far away from any english speaking people to discuss books with!

I've loved reading since I was a little girl. Up until a week ago I read classics, plays, biographies, poetry and books related to history. A few months ago I received an Isaac Asimov book for my birthday ("Foundation and Earth") and since I always considered myself someone who under no circumstances would be interested in science fiction, I put it away. It just so happened I had run out of books and this was the only book nearby to read so I picked it up and it was amazing! I read "Brave New World" after it but it just wasn't the great book everyone was telling me it is, I guess because Asimov was simply amazing.

Other than reading I love traveling, hiking, learning new things and catching up with the news. I used to play the guitar but left that back home so now my time goes between studying and reading:)

latest books I've read this week: Haruki Murakami short stories, Foundation + Earth by Asimov, Brave new World Life of Pi by Yann Martel, today I've started Hamlet and hopefully home will send me some more books for weeks to come (I'm planning on ulysses, love in the days of cholera and atlas shrugged).

Anyhow, I think I've rambled on quite enough! I'm very excited to finally have come across a community of people who love to read and discuss what they read so hopefully I'll enjoy this and it will make up for my lack of book lovers company :)

Welcome to BookTalk.org, Tahel.

Asimov was quite a skilled and prolific writer. 400+ books as I recall. For some reason I've never tried his fiction out so maybe that should be next on my list. He has so many great non-fiction books that I never had the chance to dive into his novels.

Hi - Welcome! I'm incredibly impressed that a med student has time to read for pure enjoyment. My brother is also in medical school and I don't think he's picked up a novel in about 3 years. Glad to see you can make the time.
