Overall, I would say most of them never come out as good as the book. But, I guess it's the curiosity that killed the cat...I just have to see what their like!

I agree Twilight was great...I usually enjoy books when their made into movies, it's exciting to see how their going to turn out! Have their been any good ones after Twilight?

My wife and I just watched Twilight a few nights ago and loved it.

yea the Lifetime channel has been premiering a new movie every Saturday based on books from the Nora Roberts series. I saw the first one a few weeks back...this week it's "High Noon" www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qq_KJul044

Nora Roberts is one of my all time favorite authors so you know I had to see this!... I was pleasantly surprised that they at least stuck to the basic story line of the actual book. There were a few things missing like Ava, the blowing up of Duncan's car instead of Roy at the cemetery, the big picnic scene when Phoebe meets Ma Bee for the first time...and a few other minor things here and there but other than that it was a really good movie, true to the book it portrayed. Glad to hear there also doing "Tribute" next week...

anyone else see High Noon?

Some work and some don't - I think it is just the luck of the draw in screenwriters, directors, actors, how much of a role the author has in the process. If it were me, I'd request a role so nothing was stuffed up.

Generally I find them disappointing.
I'm kind of a detail oriented person, and when they miss parts that I think are pertinent to the movie, it annoys me

I haven't seen the highly acclaimed film 'Slum Dog Millionaire'.

But I have just read the book......it is absolutely great.....highly recommended. I couldn't put it down.

I have to agree with you about books and movies. "A picture is worth a thousand words", I don't agree with that. My best example would be "Broke Back Mountain", Annie Proulie. It's a short story and I read it while the film was advertising. She describes the characters by using dialogue, that's my favorite. I'll tell you, by page two I could hear them, smell them, and feel the fabric of their geans. The movie stayed the course of the story, but the impact was not there. I avoided the movie for a long time, the actors were disapointing because by that time I had such a strong vision in my mind about how they looked.
