Re: Social and psychological issues re. digital technology

Thanks Nyla for pointing me to Jean Twenge. Interesting stuff. I'm glad that they touched on the parenting aspect in the rise of narcissism. The study segment I saw only went back to 1965, which is nice, but I would like to see data before the 60's and the explosion of counterculture movements that ...

I'd suggest that we find a way to utilize the beneficial aspects of religion without requiring belief in supernatural entities. I don't think the supernatural enti...

Re: "Bible miracles are allegorical". What does that really mean?

I think there might be some merit in the belief of literal miracles especially when they are appropriated into ritual. In this way practitioners can become immersed in the allegory. It sounds contradictory but I think it works. Just a thought. I'm still trying to work this out.

Re: "Bible miracles are allegorical". What does that really mean?

When I refer to miracles, I mean specifically the unnatural events claimed by Christianity to have happened in defiance of verifiable natural laws. can we pick one? i mean can you give one as a specific example? Water into Wine (John 2: 1-11) Water being changed/poured into wine can represent trans...

Re: Recommend a specific book for me to read

Or you could try Metamorphisis by Franz Kafka. It has a fantasy element and might be a good introduction to some good literature.
