Re: Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?

Maybe just to flesh things out a bit, so we can see what we are talking about in a less abstract way I wonder if Robert would say what he interprets the parable of the Prodigal son to mean? From your astrotheological viewpoint how do you interpret this well known parable and what's it's hidden mean...

Re: Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?

I wonder if I could ask for people's indulgence in posing a question that has nagged at me about literal vs. non-literal beliefs. I've always puzzled at Robert's efforts to establish Christianity on a non-literal, symbolic, allegorical basis, and now DL seems to be coming from much the same place w...

Re: Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?

My impression (for what such a thing is worth) is that gnosticism is no refuge for the more rationally-minded. Taken as a whole, would it be fair to say that the writings known as gnostic and not given the imprimatur of the Church contain a bewildering variety of mystical and supernatural statement...

Re: Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?

Wasn't the "Hobbit" a thing brought up on another topic thread? Why bring it up here? I don't understand. Just some humour there Nerd. Evolution being an important aspect for Bishop,I'm asking when divinity kicks into the process if you want the serious part of the question. It comes from...

Re: Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?

As of this writing, having read through the various posts just now, I still feel I need to go back and read up on Gnosticism. I've been talking on this subject in sideways fashion, and I don't feel knowledgeable enough yet. If any questions pop up as you learn, please feel free. There is a lot of f...

Re: Is God the epitome of both good and evil?

[ God fulfills his purposes in what he does directly and all he permits others to choose to do. So what we see in action is not coercive manipulation of the unwilling Are you saying that all those that died in the great flood, including innocent children and babies, had no coercion or manipulation ...

Re: Is God the epitome of both good and evil?

The thing with pre-ordination is that to position one player. all players have to be manipulated and no one ends up with a free will. That's true, although the example of Judas proves that some people are screwed more than others. For sure. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/judas Regards DL

Re: Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?

Note how they were quick to kill off the one sect that remained Universalist. Christianity and Constantine decided that free thinking was not to be allowed. They tried to kill it for 1,000 years but it failed. Except for the Abrahamic cults. Christianity and Islam. Regards DL In my experience, any ...

Re: Have you investigated Gnostic Christianity?

So what's this all about? Here's an article from a Christian perspective looking at gnosticism and the gnostic Jesus. http://www.equip.org/articles/gnosticism-and-the-gnostic-jesus#christian-books1 I'd read Pagels' book years and years ago, so I was glad to be able to review the basics of the topic...
