Re: If you were God, would you give humanity moral free will?

This is an extremely interesting topic; I just wish I had the time to do the research and give it the full discussion it deserves. Admittedly, it posits the existence of God (for the moment, I will assume no particular god, just the omnipotent being to brought the universe into existence). :n...

Movie Nerd wrote:Is there any argument so far that even comes close to being compelling as far as the existence of God.
In my opinion, it's by far the most interesting debate topic.

Re: If you were God, would you give humanity moral free will?

I'm with Interbane on this one. The concept of free will is slippery and confusing and defined differently by different people. Is it really free will when if you eat from the Tree of Knowledge there is a horrible punishment and if you resist the desire to eat from the tree there is eternal reward?...

Re: If you were God, would you give humanity moral free will?

How did Adam and Eve have free will? Wasn't the influening desire to eat the apple stronger than the influencing desire to obey god? Their behavior was determined by the comparative strength of various influences. They did not have free will in the story. We do not have libertarian free will. If go...

Yeah, that's a good point concerning being the Christian God (horrible laws), but what about being a God outside of a religion?

Re: If you were God, would you give humanity moral free will?

What God are we talking about here? First we have to establish the characteristics of a God figure. Is it the Judeo-Christian God, or Allah? Or even a Hindu or Greek or Norse God? How about none of the above and make a new one? We're talking about one outside religion or the Christian God if you'd ...

Re: "Logical Fallacies: The Key to Proving Christians Wrong"

Whehter you buy this book or not, take this with you: 1)You cannot prove that God does not exist, so He does.(Burden of Proof Fallacy) 2)There is currently no explanation for this, so God did it. (God of the Gaps/Argument from Ignorance Fallacy) 3)God exists because the Bible/Qur'an/Torah says it's ...
