I liked the first half of your blurb. You caught my attention. The last part left me wondering what the problem is though...
I'd prefer a different sentence to end it. Leaving more of a hook.

A Lesley Pearce novel I read, Survivor delved into the topic of war and the mindset it creates in people.
It was a fictional story, but the characters all believed it was kill or be killed. They were fighting for their country and had to be ruthless.

Helping people become proficient in reading and being able to navigate the library and book stores would be a big help! In school, we had lessons on how to find our way around the library and borrow books. Including how to find fiction books and non fiction. Plus there were always lots of bean bags ...
