Re: Has anyone here bought ad space on booktalk.org to promote their book?

Maybe Chris should encourage posters to be far duller to stop deflecting glory from the real purpose of the site. Commercial television programs are just fillers to encourage people to watch ads. I hope some of the threads on booktalk are higher quality than that. Shame Herman Melville won't benefi...

Has anyone here bought ad space on booktalk.org to promote their book?

I was thinking about placing an ad for my book here at booktalk.org. But then I wondered how effective it would be when I realized I hadn't even actually noticed any of the ads. So I wondered, do any of you ever actually notice the ads here? I know I tend to be so focused on the posts that I'm readi...

Re: Any ideas for marketing... getting the word out?

Awesome post and Huge THANKS for the tips! I was trying to figure out how Amazon did their ranking. I thought it was related to what you view, as in "Other who viewed this book, also viewed these...". I'll get some people to click away on the tags. I started business cards several times o...

Re: Any ideas for marketing... getting the word out?

Hi all, I have my first novel self published and available on Amazon, the kindle and the nook. I've reached out to a few local book stores, I've posted on Facebook and craigslist. What do you find works best for you? Thanks, Eric K. I already posted this in the other thread about successful promoti...

Re: To tweet or not to tweet?

I don't know how much it helps but, in my opinion, it can't hurt. :) You know what they say (whoever "they" are  ), Exposure , Exposure , Exposure . Can't have enough exposure. I've been tweeting about my books for about 3 years. I think it's important to tweet other things besides j...

Re: To All the writers in booktalk...

Well, here is an interesting topic. I am still unpublished, though that will soon be changing. How successful it will end up being is another story, but the fact is that I have so many stories in my head that are bursting to get out that I will keep publishing as long as my base costs are met. I'll...

Re: succesful ways to promote

Hi all, For my first novel, The Ezekiel Code , I created a couple of 8.5x11 posters (printed on glossy stock) and put one on each of the side-back windows of my car. I also made an 18"x4" banner for the rear window. I have no idea whether they helped sell any books but, over a 4-year perio...

Re: D H Lawrence Apocalypse

Interesting, Robert. I don't recall ever hearing or reading of this particular way of interpreting Revelation.

Under this interpretation, any thoughts on how the number 666 might relate to it? Or the Magic Square of the Sun? Just curious.

RT: "As he links up with various powerful people and looks into the various woo-woo ideas promoted by new agers and conspiracy theorists he finds an amazing hidden unity. " As a skeptical person, would this book irritate me? I can't stand people who think they see the virgin mary in a pie...

You might not believe it, but I have finished reading The Ezekiel Code . It was the most gripping and informative book I have read in ages. First time I read an e-book on the computer right through. Although it pushes the edges of a scientific world view, I found the whole book plausible, except pe...
