I've recently stopped setting "number of books" goals as it is too easy for me to achieve (especially with the help of audio books) and encourages my lazy reading habits (reading only my favourite genres). Instead, I've been trying to concentrate on deeper reading and diversity of ideas.

Madeleine L'Engle's Time Quintet (A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door, ...) and Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series (really dated even when I was a child).

I have read Woodard's previous book, American Nations, and just started American Character.
