Have you ever visited Europe?

I've noticed that many among you BookTalk-members are Americans or at least inhabitants of the Northern-American continent. I, however, am not as I'm very, very Dutch. I have never been outside of Europe - I've been close to Asia, only being 18 kilometres removed from Turkey when I visited Rhodes fi...

I've been so busy lately with school - I basically live there, because the hours I spend at home are nothing compared to what I spend there - so I've been unable to read or write for a while now... but still working on Richardson's Pamela for English lit class (yeah, we do have one, even here!) and ...

I am still curious about what they did with Dorian Gray , aka The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I have no idea when it comes out in the theatres here, but I'll be sure to see it when it does. @ Suzanne: I agree with your opinion on 'A picture is worth a thousand words'. We have the same exp...

I've put aside The Count of Monte Cristo for now and I have started reading Slaughterhouse-Five (which I find enormously irritating) and Samuel Richardson's Pamela for English literature classes. Pamela is actually very good, although a little bit too religious for my taste.

Yesterday there were a lot of World Cup Qualification games and Roddick was beaten by Isner on the US Open. The Vuelta is underway. Valentino Rossi won yet another Grand Prix. The Brussels Golden League has finished its twelve-year run and will be replaced by a Diamond League. What sports do you lik...

Ooh, someone else has heard of Within Temptation! I'd really like to go to a concert of theirs. Or to a concert of anybody's! I really really badly want to go to a concert... Of course I've heard of Within Temptation! They are probably the most successful Dutch band in the world  I'm going to...

The Bible can be entertaining to read, after you have struggled through a lot of 900-year-old men who are all named and who all have named sons who in turn had named sons - I believe the Iliad featured less names, and that certainly is an achievement. But I find the Children's Bible more entertainin...
