Re: Minors in sexually explicit scenes

My question is, outside of the legal arguments which I am sure are also quite nuanced, how do you feel, personally, or dare I say morally, about a minor playing sex scenes in theater or on film? Should the theater/film compromise artistic integrity, hiring only youthful adult actors to play minor r...

...how effective would hunger strikes be if there wasn't an oppressive force demonstrating its injustice by force feeding the strikers? I dunno, corpses on the state's hands wouldn't be good either. I think it is a pretty powerful statement, all on its own, when people are willing to die in such a d...

Those who are interested might want to take a look at the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy's entry for "Metaphysics" at http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/metaphysics/ It opens this way: It is not easy to say what metaphysics is. Ancient and Medieval philosophers might have said that met...

Since I'm not planning to participate in the discussion, I won't cast a vote for any of the selections.

I own and have read all three books. For what it's worth, I think Eller's book is far and away the best of the three.

Since I probably won't be participating in the discussion, I'm not going to vote for any of the selections.

For what it's worth, I probably would vote for either A Poisonous Affair or Moral Animal if I were.

Actually, I think Harris' suggestion would simply muddy the water. If he wants to stop calling himself an atheist, that's certainly his right. However, I doubt that those who disagree with his stance on things like faith, religion and so on will stop calling him an atheist or that he will no longer ...

No problem George! I rarely change my mind about anything, but when I do, I'm always a little bit happy because it shows that I am actually thinking after all. So congrats on the change of mind! As for the Tigers, I'm thinking of suggesting that we read Robert Pape's Dying to Win early next year. A...
