Re: E-Readers: I love mine!

But they don't interface with each other,i.e., Kindle will download Amazon but not Barnes and Noble.
Waiting for one that will download from several sources. May be a pipe dream

Re: A Serious Man

I've found that people either really liked this movie or detested it. There seems to be no gray area. I was surprised by the vehement negative reaction from one friend, who, normally is very verbal, but could not say why they disliked it so.

Favorite character in literature?

Who has been your favorite literary charcter(s)? I've enjoyed the escapades of Kilgore Trout, since as alter-ego he's not retricted to convention. Also,,,, there's Atticus Finch, who back in my youth, changed my concept of what it meant to be tolerant, since at that time there weren't role models for...

Bleacheden: Attention to detail is also a prerequisite for library science. I know two really excellent reference librarians and they are have been saviors to my research as library science now extends to a world-wide network. Am pleased to see this next generation really putting education first. Th...

Bleachededen: Majored in psychology because of a fascination with physiological psyc and since organic chemistry seemed daunting (friends struggling who were super smart), did not pursue going into neurology. Also, as you can see from this run-on sentence, I would not have been a candidate for Engli...

Re: Thoughts on consciousness?

No one has come on in a few days so maybe I'm talking to the air but after looking at suggested sites for readings, thought of this. Twiddling with a Rubik's Cube, I thought if each separate smaller cube represented a part of consciousness; genetics, neurotransmitter chemicals, etc. and the whole cu...

Re: Castles and tents

Landroid,
I do call it "blurting out"--hope that doesn't offend you. We had "10:30 Marge". Every meeting (and I mean every one), Marge had something to say at precisely 10:30. Maybe the lord had a watch with her name on it. :)

Re: Thoughts on consciousness?

Found Novella's thoughts on consciousness arising from approach-avoidance to stimuli a very interesting take on the subject. Have to really take some time and mull that over in my mind.

A Serious Man

Has anyone else seen the Coen & Coen brother movie "A Serious Man" either in the theatre or on DVD? If so, what did you think?
Was trying to come up with a way to describe it to a friend, other then 'quirky'.
