Re: Politics is a team sport.
Yes, I guess I see you’re point about emotions running high. It just seems odd to me that people do have some pretty strong feelings, but they are all shunted toward just one end of the political spectrum. “Vilified” is a strong term for someone that is a progressive liberal. Do you have any ideas ...

Re: Politics is a team sport.
Living as a Democrat in a Red state I see a very strong polarization between the two parties. I am vilified as a Secular Progressive Liberal here, as are others of my ilk. Perhaps there appears to be little difference in philosophies between the two parties at times, but my own observation is quite ...

Re: Radical Honesty: Wanna Try It?
I strive to be honest, but I have noticed that I have to be selective about my honesty in different relationships, how far I can go in being radically honest. Thus, I tend to be more honest with my daughter (who can take it) than my sister (who can't). Maybe this is deceptive, but it works for famil...

Re: Sports
Except for a bit of Olympics watching I don't watch sports at all, although I am married to an avid sports fan. I have tried to watch, but always my mind starts wandering and I eventually stop. I will, however, go to an occasional local baseball game, mainly for the ambience, the hotdogs and beer. ![Very Happy :D](https://www.booktalk.org/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Re: Luddite or techy?
I at first liked the idea of Kindle and then thought it through and came to the conclusion that I would go back to good old fashioned paper. I love the feel and even the smell of books. I do however listen to audio books often on my Ipod, which is so handy when I am doing something with my hands and...

Re: Politics is a team sport.
Without Politics there will be no country and no administrations, it is a cycle that goes on and on. So right! Unfortunately politics are a necessary evil. The difficulty for our country right now is the polarization of the two major parties. I think that part of the reason for that is our Presiden...

Re: Books and Movies
The first version of The Haunting of Hill House was very good. The second one was terrible.

What a funny story. I guess the young woman working in the shop thought it was some sort of performance art executed by a book. Cool idea.

Maybe she could iron the image onto tortillas, or toast, and sell them.
