Re: Give me your quote of the day (yours or someone else's)
"Never refuse a slice of pizza or an ice cream cone" I said that to a friend of mine once, a long time ago, and she seemed to think it was a metaphor for something very wise, but I meant it literally. It's surprising how many metaphorical uses she has found for that remark.

Re: What next?
Well, I've stolen a few street signs in my day, too. It's probably a wonder I managed to live this long, come to think of it.

Re: What next?
I'm a Pepsi drinker, too. In my younger days, I got the worst drunk ever on Kahlua mixed with vodka and Pepsi. I was drunk for two days, and I fell down in the bathroom and hit my head on a towel rack. Then I threw up in my sleep, and didn't even wake up. That was almost 40 years ago, and to this da...

Re: What next?
Eat, Pray, Love is a true story, yes? The Bridges of Madison County is a novel, so there is a difference right there. I was never able to get through Bridges of Madison County, I was just totally annoyed by it. Eat, Pray, Love was more entertaining, but it bothered me, too, mostly because I was so j...

How about 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time' ? It's kind of bittersweet, like "The Lovely Bones" but I liked it better. Very engaging characters.

Re: Looking for books that have the following?
I just thought of two more. Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen is a cute book. And The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield is a GREAT book, spooky old house and all.

Shadow Castle by Marion Cockrell (I think that's how the last name is spelled) This is a young adult book, but it's a charming story that I still love to re-read from time to time. Also, how about Practical Magic? I can't remember who wrote that, (Alice Hoffman. maybe?). I don't remember any vine co...

Re: Deserted Island
This thread reminds me of a joke I heard once: "If you were on a deserted island, and could only have one book, which one would it be?" "The dictionary, because it has all the other books in it." Dumb, dumb joke, but it made me laugh when I first heard it. ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
