Re: Hello From Cincinnati!
Welcome, Jaden. You have a lot in common with many of us, so I hope you will enjoy your time with the forum. You read a lot more books than I do. I'm lucky to get that many in a month!

Welcome to the forum, Howard.
I guess the most-widely touted classic murder novel is Crime and Punishment. I'm not as keen on this book as others seem to be, and consider it to be highly over-rated, but it does get lots of acclaim and there must be a good reason for that.

Re: Day 5 - Fiametta (Temperance)
I have now read the first two stories of the fifth day, and both are certainly more upbeat than the last several stories of the fourth day, which seemed to highlight the swiftness with which the plague took lives. And no, President Camacho, before you even ask, I have never encountered a poisonous t...

Re: Day 4 - Filostrato (Vanquished by Love)
I have now read the first two stories of the fourth day, and both are great. I was somewhat down on the third day’s stuff, just because of an overabundance of illicit sex, but these new ones on the fourth day are now bringing my interest back up – or maybe I’m just becoming used to the illicit sex. ...

Re: New from Colorado
I like historical fiction, too. I've read many by James Michener, Gore Vidal's series of Burr, Lincoln, 1876 , etc., and some by John Jakes. And lots of straight history, too. Lately I've been reading classics in the form of leatherbound books from Easton Press and the Franklin Library, having devot...

Welcome, writternubbin. Can we assume that you write to supplement your reading activities, based on your name?
What kinds of books do you read, and if you write, what do you write?

Re: Day 3 - Neifile (Charity)
While the third day had some creative stories, I'm glad to have finally put them behind me so I can proceed with an eager eye to the fourth day. The third day's stories began with the man who worked as a gardener at a convent and then spent more time working over the nuns than he did tending the flo...

Welcome, Sandra and Witch - looking forward to hearing more from both of you. My cat Eleanor likes small dogs that don't look so scary.

Re: Want to lead this discussion President Camacho?
President Camacho does a wonderful job of keeping the discussion moving, even lacking whatever experience he's talking about. I'm enjoying The Decameron a lot more with his writeups, and might have given up on it already were it not for what he does. If he keeps doing what he's been doing, he will t...
