Re: The Salvation army thinks gays should die.

I did read your link. That view was expressed by one member and countermanded by a higher official of the Salvation Army who said of course they do not want any harm to come to anyone.

Re: JULY, AUGUST & SEPTEMBER 2012 NON-FICTION BOOK POLL

I won't vote as I probably won't read any of the books listed since I have a library full of books that I may never get to!? Just wanted to stick my nose in and say that my husband was reading the Comanche book as we crossed the country by train last winter. He said it is very little about Quannah P...

Re: Reading for pleasure! What are you reading now? (Part 2)

I am reading "The uncrowned Queen of Ireland" about the love affair between Charles Stewart Parnell and Katherine O'Shea. It was referenced (or rather they were) in the book I had previously been reading . . . Virginia Wolf's "The Hours" and I remembered I had it on my book shelf...

Re: Morals Without Religion

Lady of shallot- Is that to say that religion has no influence on how our morals develop? I thought religion at least had...standardized morals in a way I am saying that man invented religion(s) so the "morals" attributed to any religion are in fact invented by man. We can see this curren...

Re: Morals Without Religion

While I'm not very religious (or at all, I don't know), I often wonder where we'd be morally without religion. Actually right where we are. All morals are man made and might differ according to the religion devised by man in the particular part of the world where particular morals are practiced. Bu...

I will have to re-watch some of the videos. They certainly say God does not exist.

Re: Is evolutionary chance impossible?

Hypothetically, if you were a believer in the traditional sense, would you believe god was the cause of acts like this? You were not asking this question generally but I would like to answer. I think most believing people define God and heaven as they like. They think God lets their team win and th...

Re: Did the man "Jesus" exist?

Debate between Bart Ehrman and a fundie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Oh1S8g1gaQ&feature=related I have not watched it, but from the commentary it seems that Erhman's argument for the historical Jesus is like an entry ticket, as no one who disagrees with this item of faith would be listened ...

Re: Did the man "Jesus" exist?

The question of Jesus as a divine entity is based totally on subjective faith while the more esoteric debate about whether he existed as a human being needs to be an objective survey of history. They are necessarily separate queries. Does that make sense? Yes, it does and the "objective survey...
