Re: Worst Books You've Ever Read

I felt that way about a book I read a few years ago, "Free Food for Millionaires." It seemed that every page had at least one reference to drinking games, or B. School. (Business School) Could the author have not, at least occasionally, used the full term? While I'm grinding my grammatical...

Re: Dead Authors

Would they teach literature or writing?

Wouldn't it be great to have Dickens and Hemmingway team teach? They'd drive each other crazy. Hemingway would be chopping everyone's writing into tiny, short sentences, while Dickens would be ballooning them up with sentences that ran for half a page.

Re: Kindle or Nook?

I got my basic Nook as a Christmas gift, so I have no Kindle experience. That said, I love my Nook. I was very wary of all e-readers, being so fond of paper books, but I've been won over. The Nook has been easy on the eyes; I can choose my font and font size. It's easy to get loaner books from the l...

Re: Books and Coffee

If I'm at a coffee shop, I'll treat myself to a cup of coffee (cream and sugar, please) with a brownie or something yummy. Most of my reading is done at home, though. I make the world's worst coffee, so I switch to tea (which I make flawlessly!) and maybe a cookie. Gotta have that sweet...

E-Books From the Library

I just downloaded my first E-book on loan from the library. It was really quite easy, and I'm sure I'll request others this way.

What have your experiences with library e-books been?

Re: New to the Group

Here's a link to the article that clued me in to borrowing e-books from the library: http://nooktalk.net/how-to/how-to-borrow-ebooks-from-your-library-with-nook-or-nookcolor This works with the Nook as well as the Kindle. You must first download the appropriate software that works with your library ...

Suzanne -

As an e-book user, have you ever borrowed an e-book from your local library? I've put in for one, but as of yet, haven't gotten it.

Re: What are you reading right now...

The cowboy stories of Andy Adams. Great stuff! "Andy Adams (May 3, 1859 – September 26, 1935) was an American writer of western fiction. Andy Adams was born in Indiana. His parents, Andrew and Elizabeth (Elliott) Adams, were pioneers. As a boy he helped with the cattle and horses on the family ...

New to the Group

I've been an avid reader most of my life. Mostly fiction, but some non-fiction, too. Bill Bryson's a favorite in that category. I enjoy Melville, Tolstoy, Austen (of course), David Foster Wallace, Richard Russo... I got a Nook for Christmas, so am exploring the e-reader frontier, too. I was very war...
