Re: Book Suggestions needed for our May & June NON-FICTION book discussion!

I'd be thrilled reading Dexter's suggestion by Dawkins, A Devil's Chaplain OR Civil Disobedience by Thoreau. I've read the latter, but would absolutely love to read it again and discuss it. So I guess I shouldn't make anymore suggestion since I cast my vote for either of those two.

Re: NBC Poll - Remove "In God We Trust" from currency?

What solace of soul would they have had without religious succor? I do not think it is out of line to say that religious is what sustained slaves who faced hard labor, abuse and murder. Good point. I wouldn't belittle those who have nothing to hope for and thus, turn to some "higher power"...

Re: Attention all chicken little's!

Luke 21:10-11 (King James Version) 10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: 11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. Re: NBC Poll - Remove "In God We Trust" from currency?

I still don't quite understand why atheists are always trying to belittle the religiously minded? Things should be taken with a grain of salt, sure there are zealots out there who push their beliefs with the enthusiasm of a drug dealer in a bad neighborhood but we are not all pushers unwilling to c...

Re: NBC Poll - Remove "In God We Trust" from currency?

We need to start eradicating the silliness of religious dogma, albeit slowly. But we must start. As Bill Maher said in Religulous , atheists are one of the largest minority groups in America, yet we don't have nearly the representation or lobbying power as smaller ones. We could replace "In God...

Re: What was your college major?

I'm finishing my B.S. in political science with a minor in journalism. I'm not plannning to go into either of those fields. Frankly I don't know what I'm going to do. If I could restart I would major in philosphy or psychology.
