Re: What are your favorite science books?
I'm a huge physics nerd so I love The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene (I'm pretty sure that's how you spell his name). I also really like Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman, which is not a science book but is a physics inspired volume of poetry. Yep...that's right...physics poetry. It's just as str...

Re: Currently reading?
I just started in on Jabberwocky by Daniel Coleman. I had planned on it being the second book I reviewed for my new blog but so far it's going very badly. The writing is just horrible, but I don't feel ok giving it a bad review until I've trudged through the entire thing. Woe is me ![Sad :(](https://www.booktalk.org/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)

That I've finished? Tortilla Flat by Steinbeck. I'm reading one now called Jabberwocky that may just replace it though.

Re: Reading for pleasure! What are you reading now?
My friends have recently gotten me hooked on the Myth series. I'm a sucker for terrible, pun-filled fantasy or sci-fi because to me it's the literary equivalent of an awesome B-grade horror flick. I'm on the 3rd book in the series now and really loving it so far ![Smile :)](https://www.booktalk.org/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: What Books Do You Dislike?
I've also been told to read "The Life of Pi" and now you guys have me nervous :( I think someone mentioned it earlier on here but I got the Da Vinci Code for xmas a few years back (we have a sense of humor about such things in my family) and I never made it past the 3rd chapter. The plot w...

Mon nom est Charity...tu connais mon nom
The song is from a silly little ice breaker we used to sing to introduce ourselves. But as it says above, My name is Charity. It also says you know my name which should really go without saying. I'm a female. I live in Alabama. I like long, romantic walks on the beach. Only two of those last three f...

Re: What's Cooking?
In the interest of being both a foodie and a nerdy book lover I have a cookbook suggestion...I may be all alone on this forum in this but I'm a vegan (and a southern one at that, so it's doubly painful). I'm always looking for great vegan dishes and whatnot and a friend recently bought me a copy of ...

Re: Does reading Lolita make you feel "bad"....
The thing about the book (for me, anyway) is that there aren't any legitimately likable characters. Humbert and Quilty, obviously, and then Lolita herself. After a certain point, I don't even feel all that bad for her anymore. I think that's the one redeeming feature of this book (I love Nabokov bu...

Re: Nabokov, a closet Pedophile?
The issue you're talking about here is one James Joyce deals with extensively in Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, namely viewing an artist's work as a reflection on him/herself as a person. I write, as I'm sure many people on this website do, and have extensive knowledge on a number of subject...
