Hi Bradams, Welcome - I've enjoyed reading what you've written, and hope you stick around. Second, I know that it can be quite a painful experience to lose one's faith. This pretty much sums up where I'm at now. It is like there is a void, that is unfillable. I'd like to discuss this more - perhaps ...

Hi lovebooks,

My kids have both had LG phones. Being teenagers, they are rough on their phones (flipping it open and closed, dropping it, etc). They stood up well under that sort of treatment.

Hi,

My vote is for either Heart of Darkness or Let's Talk About Kevin. Heart is my first choice though - I've tried it, found it difficult, and quit - so doing it as a group read would give the incentive to work through it.

Hi,

I'd be interested in reading either "How Doctors Think" or "The Cult of Pharmacology".

Great suggestions.

Hi,

Just bought it today. Both my husband and I will be reading it at the same time (we work opposite shifts quite often).

Hi Trish, Welcome! I also enjoyed "I Know This Much is True" by Wally Lamb. I haven't tried any of his other books though. I just spent the afternoon at the nearest city, in the library. It is 1 1/2 drive on winter roads.... but I come home so happy and relaxed! Looking forward to sharing ...

A bit of athiest humour

This morning there was a knock at my door. When I answered the door I found a well groomed, nicely dressed couple. The man spoke first: John: "Hi! I'm John, and this is Mary." Mary: "Hi! We're here to invite you to come kiss Hank's butt with us." Me: "Pardon me?! What are yo...

Favorite passages / quotes from books

Hi Everyone, I keep a Word file and a few notebooks in which I write favorite quotes or passages from books that I KNOW I'll want to reread. Does anyone else do this? What are some of your favorites? Here are a few of mine: "Of the seven deadly sins, anger is possibly the most fun. To lick your...

Nicholas Basbanes and books for Bibliophiles

Hi everyone, Does anyone else enjoy reading about other booklover's and their foibles? One of my favorite bibliophile authors is Nicolas Basbanes, and his best book (in my view) is A Gentle Madness: Bibliophiles, Bibliomanes, and the Eternal Passion for Books. You will read about a man who "col...
