Re: A book a book a kingdom for a book- any book will do!

Hi You have to read 'We Need to Talk about Kevin' ---- it changes your concept of power from the written page. Read it quietly so as to savour the prose, hidden layers and ponder over the characters and their issuesmh . Make time for the book- you realise how good writing can make you change and thi...

Re: A book a book a kingdom for a book- any book will do!

Re: Worst Books You've Ever Read

Interesting about Russian author's works being too long- I thought this was a kind of literary snobbery- who could find the deepest and most symbolic book. I do love the search and passion for love and justice- you just need toput a year aside to finish it!!

Re: Worst Books You've Ever Read

Just got to be the range of celebrity books which most of the time are rubbish- though an excellent one happens every now and then. I don't like the 'ghost writing' mentality when we're all working like mad to create the right voice for our work.

Am I being difficult or awkward?

Re: Please allow me to introduce myself...

Hi Mark Welcome- it's a great site for talking about books but also being able to discuss your own writing and published works. I have had look at your wife's books, very impressive. Do look at my book for 9-13 year old kids- 'The Idiot Family At Home' ISBN 978-09569234-0-0- very funny sharp-witted ...

My New Book 'The Idiot Family At Home' ISBN 9780-95969234-0-0

:P   8) I would like to tell you about my new book for ages 9-13 called ' The Idiot Family At Home' which, as the name suggests is about a dreadfully spoilt, rather disgustingly rude, and unpleasant family- who just happen to be mega-rich. So let me introduce you to Jimmelta Chew Van Der ...

Re: Kindle Books

Kindle is brilliant easy, cheap and the best way to engage the younger generation. Actually I have my book on it and it's much cheaper than the book version. A great read.

Get going with that Kindle

Re: A book a book a kingdom for a book- any book will do!

Many thanks for the replies- just going through 'an autumn leaves' phase and have started the day with a dip in to Language for others by Clare Morrell- flicked through Alan Bennett's The Uncommon Reader. A great way to start the day.......We had a skimming of frost last night so the landscape remin...

Re: New to BookTalk but not to books!

Hi Suzanne- I love the caption and know that you'll get a huge amount of feedback and support now you've joined. I'm not actually sure which books I'd put on a hot list, but I know Pride and Pred. by Jane Austen is still up there in the romance genre.Currently reading Love and Friendship by Alison L...
