2 year old killed at zoo
A 2-year old at the Pittsburgh zoo was being held by his mother on the railing over an exhibit of wild African Painted Dogs. He fell and some how managed to miss the net. He was mauled by the dogs. They were able to get most of the dogs away from the boy but they ended up having to shoot one who was...

My mom did a great job! This is the best haunted house she's ever done. I'm very proud of her.
Absinthe is strong. I recommend only drinking it in small amounts. I didn't know what was in the cocktails until I had already drank 2! My head is pounding today.

Re: Which new (or old) sci-fi books do you recommend?
These are probably considered dark fantasy more than sci-fi but The Dark Jewels series by Anne Bishop is really good. It's one of my favorite series. Also anything by Ray Bradbury is really good. I just finished reading The Illustrated Man and am getting ready to re-read Fahrenheit 451.

Re: What Made Today Good
Yesterday was the best Halloween ever! My mom's haunted house made $2,565 for charity. My friend's party was awesome! She did a vampire theme (that's why I ended up dressing like Sookie). She had these great cocktails, she bought some True Blood soda and mixed it with vodka and absinthe. They were t...

Re: The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy; Final Thoughts
At first I had a lot of trouble getting into this book but when I got to the end I didn't want it to be over. I will definitely be reading the rest of the series. Sorry I didn't participate much in the discussion but honestly you guys had such great thoughts and insights that I didn't have much to a...

Re: What Made Today Good
Tomorrow is Halloween! It's my favorite holiday and I can't wait. I took the day off work. I'm going to help my mom with her haunted house. I answer the door dressed like a scary Victorian vampire and lead them through the house. She charges to get in and all the money goes to charity. This year we'...

Re: Introduction to The Hobbit
I know! I'm so excited. When the LOTR trilogy was just coming out my friends and I would go see them on opening night. It was rather sad when they ended. We're going to try to it with The Hobbit! Cattleman- I agree about Return of the King. I think the Oscars were for the entire trilogy. Interesting...

Re: Introduction to The Hobbit
Does anyone have any comments on the movies versus the books for the LOTR? The movies were really amazing but I cannot compare them to the books because I haven't read the books. I'm pretty excited about "The Hobbit" movie coming out in December. Chris you're going to have to read the boo...

That sounds like fun Cattleman!
