As a child I enjoyed the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary. I remember looking forward to story time after recess and listening to my teacher read about Romona and her many childhood dilemmas. I carry this tradition on with my third graders. They enjoy this series as much as I did.

I love her books, too. I am reading Vanishing Acts right now. I like how she weaves each character's past events into the plot to show the bearing it has on their current situations and actions.
