Re: Can you tell a book by its cover?

I would also think "non fiction" seeing the cover. On the other hand, people looking for non fiction in this area might be the same persons who might be interested in your novel... You could try to experiment with different covers - after all it is more important than we would like to thin...

Re: Inferno by Dan Brown

Unfortunately I believe that Dan Brown is on to something. The rapid increase in the human population is absolutely terrifying and will have consequences. Let's just hope that the doomsday is not upon us - after all people have almost always thought that the end is near. But just to be safe, make su...

Re: The Alchemist

This book was not at all for me. A lot of Mumbo Jumbo that made me want to crawl out of my skin. I stopped reading it after about 50 pages or so.

I guess it's a matter of different strokes for different folks...

Is Goodreads.com any good?

Hi, I am curious about your experiences of this monster book site. Do you use it a lot? Has it helped you to find new good reads or has it helped you connect with others that have been valuable to you? Has it helped you with marketing? Please share your thoughts! Kind regards, The Writer of The Furr...

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen by Paul Torday

<r>Halfway through this book an I love it!<br/> <br/> The title got me to buy it. The humor in it really hits home with me.<br/> <br/> It's about a rich Yemeni (is that the correct word? sounds like something from Star Trek...) who wants help from the British fishing authorities to introduce Salmon ...

Re: Ticked off!

I cannot help to think that there are commercial - and only commercial - reasons behind these trilogies or series that ends with a lot of unfinished or unresolved plot threads. A book or volume should, in my opinion, tie most loose threads together at the end - then the sequal can untie them and com...

Re: Do you read self-published authors?

The comparison of choises and appreciation of food and books is excellent! Sometimes I crave some greasy shit that's bad for me (like a Patricia Cornwell novel) and sometimes something with better quality ingredients. But I never go for the really cutting edge restaurants, like Noma in Copenhagen, t...

Re: The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

I have the same problem or tendensies, if it is a problem... I thought I was the last one to read The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, but I guess you haven't read it yet ;-) But guess what, I really liked the code AND this one is also, in my humble opinion, great. Sometimes popular = not so good, just h...

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

Yes, I have followed the hype and picked up The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Initial reactions: This is fenomenal plotting. Suzanne Collins clearly (unless she's a born plotting genious) have spent a lot of time thinking out the plot, the characters and environment/setting before sitting down to...

Re: Hello Book Lovers Everywhere!!!

Welcome!
I love it when people just read what they like and not what they're "supposed to" - unless at work that is...
There are so many that claim to never read crime/thrillers/mystery - like that should be second rate litterature. To *** with them!
