The Book Of Demons -update 1

Unread post

I have covered almost 75% of the book..

Below are some of the lines from the book which I found interesting..

"There is no doubt that the word Asura which originally meant divine corresponds to the Persian Ahura"
[Asuras are demons according to Hindu mythology]

"Later Asura came to signify the opposite and became synonymous with demon in the latest part of the Rig and Atharva Veda,
while Ahura Mazda ,in Persian tradition became the 'wise god' "
[Well ..well..well...]

"The gods of one civilization became the demons of the other and vice versa "
[Yeah .. that is true.. I am always right and you are always wrong....]

"Vidyumalin,Tarakaksha and Kamalaksha , the three sons of Taraka who won the Tripura (three cities), were granted a wish from Brahma thet they could only be killed by a single arrow. The demons could not be killed because they were devotees of Shiva. Vishnu becomes Buddha and Narada his disciple. The two deceive the demons with sweet words and destroy the chasity of their wives by gifting them jewels. Vishnu persuades them to give up worshipping Shiva and worship him as Buddha, giving the inducements of money, jewellery, clothing and women to entice the demons. Then leaving a part of himself behind as Buddha, Vishnu goes to Shiva who agrees to battle the demons because they have left his fold. "
[Ladies and gentlemen, this is what is called 'tactics' :) ]

As I was reading this ""The gods of one civilization became the demons of the other and vice versa "

I was thinking this "Yeah .. that is true.. I am always right and you are always wrong...."

Great minds think alike :)
