Hi! I'm a Yankee by location and a Texan in my heart. I was born in MI, where I currently live having moved there for graduate school, but grew up in Texas. I'm 30, recently got my Masters in Social Worker, and work as a therapist at an agency for domestic violence and sexual assault. My other love is cooking, and in a past life was a cook and baker. An adorable little chihuahua/terrier mix named Annie from the Detroit Humane Society just joined my home. I have no kids and am in a committed relationship.
I am and always have been a bookie. In the last couple of years since I started school and then a new job, I've read less of books that I enjoy than ever in my life, which just doesn't work for me! I decided to find a book community to help get myself back invested in books and thinking and talking about them the way I like to. What I'm hoping to find here is somewhat the equivalent of a traditional book club with quality books and regular discussions about them.
Cheers!

Hey libbyanne! Welcome to BookTalk.org! Here you will have that oppunitity to find a book club here. Any books you are interested, most likely, someone on here will like the same book. Along with that, have you read The Doomsday Machine by Michael Lewis? There is a book talk about it, jump right in and have a ball!

Welcome to BookTalk.org! ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
It is always nice to hear of good people like you rescuing dogs and cats from the shelters. I'm an animal lover and this means a lot to me.

You're a foodie and a bookie! I've never heard of "bookie" (in that context) but I love it. You should talk to our saffron, who is also both those things. She can cook it up.libbyanne wrote:Hi! PS-I didn't know that Michiganers call themselves Yankees, too.

I agree! Anything above the Mason Dixon is Yankee territory. Thanks for all the greetings! Looking forward to some good reads and convo!
