Book lover wanting to talk books!

Unread post

Hey everyone, my names Laura, I am 23 and live in Wales, UK.

I love reading, going to the theatre, watching shows on tv and browsing the web but most of my time is taken up by looking after my amazing beautiful little girl who recently turned 1.

When my partner is in work and my daughter goes for a nap, I try and squeeze in as much reading time as possible! What I find after reading a book, is that I want to talk to other people about the characters and the story and I decided to look online and hey presto! I found booktalk, hoping I get to talk to some new people and read some new books!

So that's my introduction. Hope it's okay! :)

Laura:

What kind of novels do you like to read? I like Gothic novels like Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Dracula. I also like other kinds of novels like House of Mirth and The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. Let's see what else? - The Awakening by Kate Chopin. A little Dickens - Great Expectations and The Pickwick Papers. I've also read some contemporary works like Dracula in Love (can't recall the author) and The Somnambulist by Johnathan Barnes.

Have you read any of these?

Melissa

I haven't read any of them but can imagine I would like Dracula!

I like a lot, fantasy, horror, romance, at the moment an author I love is Dorothy Koomson. Another is the trilogy fantasy books 'daughter of smoke and bone' by Laini Taylor, i am just waiting for the third book to be released!

Hi Laura,

We're reading Dubliners over the next several months as one of our fiction selections. It is composed of 15 short stories that I believe take place in Ireland. Not sure of the theme or any more than that. Look at the main forums page to find the forum for Dubliners. http://www.booktalk.org/forum.html

Welcome to the community. :-)
