Suzanne, I voted for four of them and two of them are still ahead so far, I am excited to try this even if we pick a book I have read.

I personally would like to discuss either "Dubliners" or "Babbit." I have always wanted to read Joyce, but somehow never got around to it.
I have read some of Sinclair Lewis's works, but not Babbit. As for "A Princess of Mars," I read it last summer and was disappointed; I grew up reading the Tarzan novels, and some of Rice's other works. I found the John Carter novel basically more of the same.
If it is chosen, however, I will participate in the discussion.
P.S. Just watched Nova on PBS; did a great program on the Mars rover Curiosity.

I put down The Man in the Iron Mask because of the story on NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday several weeks ago on the author. Dumas' grandfather (may have been his father) fought against Napolen I believe, and his grandson used alot of the memories in the book. It sounded like a wonderful story.

I would like to conclude the voting on November 23. This will give time to download the novel and prepare the forum.

I would love to read and discuss Anthem with people, I read that book many years ago in school and I bet I would have a very different perspective now, maybe we can put that on a future list...

On second thought, the Dubliners might make a good choice.
"Declared by their author to be a chapter in the moral history of Ireland, this collection of 15 tales offers vivid, tightly focused observations of the lives of Dublin's poorer classes. A fine and accessible introduction to the work of one of the 20th century's most influential writers, it includes a masterpiece of the short-story genre, "The Dead."

I had voted for Gulliver's Travels and The Dubliners, but now I'm going all in for The Dubliners.
