Congratulations on your long wedded bliss Cattleman and Penelope! My husband and I will be celebrating our 23 aniversary in Feb.

This is such a great thread. I believe there should be three things every day that a person looks forward to. Very small things usually, like having tea in the afternoon and reading in bed at night and walking my dog. But today! Got tickets for the pre-showing of "Breaking Dawn" for Thursday night. I'm excited because my kids are excited. :)

Twenty-three years is impressive, too, Suzanne. Karen and I will be celebrating 29 next April.

Thanks for the good wishes. Today was absolutely gorgeous in Tennessee, with no clouds in the sky at all.

This morning we got up and while we were having our breakfast, my step-son came over. He'll be staying in our house while we gone, so we got a short visit in with him before going on our way. That was the first thing that made today special.

We visited a coffee shop we've passed many times when it wasn't open. Today it was open and we had the time, so we stopped in and sampled their coffee. It was a very nice little place with cute signs on the walls. The one I liked the best said,
Motto To Live By

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO, what a ride!"
Not that I want to live by that motto, but it certainly made me smile. So that was a second thing that made today special.

Finally, this afternoon we drove to an overlook on the edge of the Cumberland Plateau looking westward over Middle Tennessee and watched the sun set behind distant hills. That was the third thing that made today special.

Now we're warm and cozy in a warm house with an electric blanket warming up our bed for when we're ready to get in it and it's cold and windy outside.

After I'd bought my groceries today, I called into, what you in the US call a thrift shop, I believe. Anyway I was looking for toys to put into my grand-daughter's toy box at my house. We look after her on Fridays, which is tomorrow and she always looks into her toy box to see if there's anything new. The bill came to £6.50., which was just exactly what I had in my purse. Don't you just love it when that happens. :D

Same thing that makes every workday good--when I get off, I take a 12-mile bike ride toward home. I'm not stuck in traffic, which makes me happier. It's a westward trip, and there was a great sunset tonight.

My wife fixed one of my favorite dishes for supper; a casserole with hamburger, noodles, corn, and soups for liquid and flavor. What makes it even better is (1) the meat came from one of our steers we slaughtered, and (2) and is enough for at least tomorrow night.

Love the last comment about experts, Cattleman. Today is good because I found an online book discussion group that I can use my computer to go to. My local library doesn't have a group that I can get to by taking the bus, and I don't have a car. The one book group that is really interesting in the area is beyond the busline. This group has potentially helped me work out the problem.
