Twenty-three years is impressive, too, Suzanne. Karen and I will be celebrating 29 next April.
Thanks for the good wishes. Today was absolutely gorgeous in Tennessee, with no clouds in the sky at all.
This morning we got up and while we were having our breakfast, my step-son came over. He'll be staying in our house while we gone, so we got a short visit in with him before going on our way. That was the first thing that made today special.
We visited a coffee shop we've passed many times when it wasn't open. Today it was open and we had the time, so we stopped in and sampled their coffee. It was a very nice little place with cute signs on the walls. The one I liked the best said,
Motto To Live By
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, "WOO HOO, what a ride!"
Not that I want to live by that motto, but it certainly made me smile. So that was a second thing that made today special.
Finally, this afternoon we drove to an overlook on the edge of the Cumberland Plateau looking westward over Middle Tennessee and watched the sun set behind distant hills. That was the third thing that made today special.
Now we're warm and cozy in a warm house with an electric blanket warming up our bed for when we're ready to get in it and it's cold and windy outside.
