Ditto! Actually, I'd probably describe myself as a democratic socialist, but I guess no Americans'd know what that means!

Chomsky on American Presidential Elections
Quote:Elections are essentially bought, and the democratic culture is severely eroded. Furthermore, the population is aware of it, by and large, but many feel helpless. It is also a very frightened country, particularly men, polls indicate. That has been true for a long time, and those fears are exploited by unscrupulous leaders to divert the attention of the people they are kicking in the face, not to speak of what they are doing to coming generations. Nevertheless, though differences are not very large, they do exist. The current incumbents may do severe, perhaps irreparable, damage if given another hold on power

Re: Are you a Democrat or Republican or...
I'm still undecided and not registered either way, but my views favor the republican party over the democratic party.
Re: Are you a Democrat or Republican or...
I'm a registered republican in the US. I find myself to be a liberal on social issues most of the time, however, I find myself agreeing with conservatives on foreign and defense issues. I believe in republics (mixed gov'ts without a king), but not pure democracy (it's not my fault I've read my Thucydides).

I belong to no organized party. I'm a Democrat. - Will Rogers
Re: Are you a Democrat or Republican or...
I have a tendency to be more liberal than most Democrats.
