I don't know. I hope not. But I just don't know. I sent her an email explaining that my statements were not directed at her. Maybe she is just busy right now and hasn't logged in.
I did not see anything directed at her for what it is worth.
This is because my words were never directed at her.

I'd like our actual ads to have the titles of our books. So this thread will only be up till maybe tomorrow. After that we're going to stick with whwtever we decide.

I've spoken to Rose recently. She isn't gone, but she isn't very active at the moment, mostly because work and other things are keeping her busy.
Chris, there's a thread in which we're discussing fiction books we can read for a non-official discussion. You might consider making whatever we settle on the official discussion piece.
And actually, I think it was one of the new guys that suggested reading Pinker -- Seeker, maybe? or Why?
As for other non-fiction suggestions, education is a big topic at the moment, so you might consider a book on that topic. DH is continually suggesting books along these lines. I'd suggest the following, if anyone else is interested:
If this rule were always observed; if no man allowed any pursuit whatsoever to interfere with the tranquility of his domestic affections, Greece had not been enslaved, Caesar would have spared his country, America would have been discovered more gradually, and the empires of Mexico and Peru had not been destroyed. -- Mary Shelley, "Frankenstein; or The Modern Prometheus"

HEY! I was the one who brought up Education as a topic!! I forget the book I suggested, but that is what Dissident picked up on.
If you can find a best-seller on educaton, you've got more patience than I do. Chances are, we're not going to find best-sellers that cover the topics we want to talk about, and new releases are certainly no more guaranteed to draw attention than some of the more frequently read older books.
But if that's the way it has to be, Kozol's newest book was released in March of this year. It certainly isn't my first choice for reading a Kozol book, but I suppose it's better than nothing: Letters to a Young Teacher

Awesome! And so will I so that makes 5 of us. I will replace the Cosby book soon. Please get copies of your books right away so that we actually start discussing it when the reading period begins. I will contact Stephen Pinker and set up a live chat. I'm working on a live chat for Philip Zimbardo's book.
