I am a 57 year old wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and avid reader from Louisville, Kentucky. I read mostly fiction with a sprinkling of non-fiction when it pertains to one of my current interests.
Recent reads include, "Home" by Marilynne Robinson, "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini and "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" by David Wroblewski. "Hot, Flat, and Crowded" by Thomas L. Friedman is next up on my non-fiction reading list, and it looks like "The Things They Carried" will be next on my fiction list.
I work full-time and have a husband and an adolescent daughter at home, so my reading time is sometimes limited, but so often, after finishing a really good book, I find myself wishing for someone with whom I can share the experience, so here I am.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know you.

Welcome! pjt1234 is quite a mouth, err fingerful. I'm curious how you liked Home by Marilynne Robinson. I really liked Gilead. I'd say it was one of my favorites. I've been reluctant to read Home due to the not so great reviews. The Things They Carried was a great read and a book that resonated with my idea of truth and the telling (or recording) of history. You will find me mostly on the Poetry Forum: A Passion for Poetry. Again, welcome.

Thanks, Saffron. Sorry about the username. I got lazy after a couple of unsuccessful attempts.
Thanks again.
Gilead is one of my favorites too, as is Housekeeping. I loved Home, probably as much as Gilead, but perhaps because it included some issues I am experiencing in my life. One of the things it explores is the adult-child/parent relationship between Jack (you'll remember him from Gilead) and his aging father. Since my own father is 89 years old I found the book to be intensely relevant.Saffron wrote:I'm curious how you liked Home by Marilynne Robinson.
Thanks again.
