Hi all!
I'm new here, so I thought I'd stop in and introduce myself. I love to read and write...in fact I'd really like to find someone who can motivate me to do the latter more. A few of my favorite books are The Things They Carried, Man's Search for Meaning, Les Miserables and The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.
I am also really interested in language studies, both specific languages and linguistics.
I'm looking forward to some great discussions! :)

HELLO! :D
I joined recently and love it here. What types of books do you like to read?

Oh I like all kinds of books. Mostly, I like books that are a bit more serious I guess. I'm into the classics, but I like more modern work, too. One of my favorite authors is Toni Morisson. I guess the only thing I'm not really into is fantasy (though I do like science fiction.)
What about you? What kinds of books do you like?

Hello et cetera, nice to meet you.

I am puzzled by your avatar, what is it? A bird? A dog? Pottery?

I like all sorts of books. I am not much into fantasy, but I haven't really given it much of an effort. I love classics, drama and suspense, medical stories, mysteries are great. I read romance once in a great while when I am in the mood. I read non-fiction if it is something that intrests me....

Welcome to the community. Shall we simply call you "et cetera" or do you have a name you'd like to share? Please feel free to keep your real name private if you desire anonymity.

You mention that you like just about every book genre other than fantasy. This is funny to me because fantasy is my all-time favorite type of book to read. But we're all different. Some of your favorite books are on my shelf too.

I hope you stick around and get involved in the actual book discussions. But while you're getting comfy you might want to check out all the forums in the General section as there are bound to be thread of interest to you.

Again, welcome to BookTalk.org.

Thank you, Chris. For now you can just call me et cetera. My husband's favorite book genre is fantasy as well, so I should probably give it another chance. :)

Ophelia, my avatar is a bird. He (or she...I really don't know) was eating ice cream out of a cup that someone had left out.
