Rekindling my love affair with books
Hello, my name is Christina and I am trying to return to the world of books. I have been following this group on facebook for awhile and decided to dive in. I enjoy responding to posts on there regularly so I decided to somewhat formalize my presence here. I majored in English in college about 10 years ago but I was unable to finish due to family health concerns. I would like to dive back into my studies but the overwhelming reading seems well...overwhelming. College burnt me out on reading pretty badly. As luck and a strange twist of fate would have it I was turned back on to reading by ebooks. Now while I know some may find this blasphemous, a small portable electronic that I can fit in my purse that allows me to steal a read of a few pages here and there has been an epiphany for me. I guess my goals are to a) build up my reading endurance and b) remember how to think and write critically about what I have read so that I can go back to school and finish this time.

Welcome to the board, whilst my first love would be the paper version I think it is great to embrace new technology and as an author every medium should be utilised.

Re: Rekindling my love affair with books
A couple years ago I had the same problem! I just didn't have the patience to finish any books, so I subscribed to 10-15 different magazines. It helped because I could still read tons, and the articles were short so I never had to worry about not finishing them! I just recently have started burning through books again. Good luck! I never feel happier then when a book vacations from the shelf to my bedside table for awhile!
At the end of the game the queen and the pawn always go back in the same box.
