Hello..

Hi,

Just want to post a quick Hello. :)

I am an avid reader who enjoys book discussions. I have a Kindle and read whenever I get a few minutes out of the day.

I enjoy reading a great variety of genres and authors and have recently gotten into the indie market courtesy of Amazon and the many ebooks that have been offered and expanded my horizons!

Looking forward to meeting some of the regulars :)

You mentioned "recently [getting] into the indie market..." What is that, exactly? Meaning what books would be considered "indie?"

I read Flyboy Action Figure Comes with Gasmask, which was originally self-published (though I think now it has been published for realsies?). That was my one venture into self-published literature and it really didn't encourage me to go back! It seemed to me there was a good reason this book hadn't been published. If they did publish it properly, I wonder if a good editor looked it over.

Having said that I've read some little known authors, and I have some friends who write as well, and I think they're very good! So I suppose indie books are probably like regular books... some are good, some are not. :) What are some good indie books you've found, Endlessreader?

Yes Indie = self-published. In the world of Ebook sales, self-published authors are popping up daily, promoting their books at Amazon and on some ebook forums I frequent.

My favorite indie author has been Boyd Morrison. I guess I should say he's a "has been" as he has been picked up by a publisher. He offered his three books for free at Amazon and I had a backlog of ebooks so didn't get around to him recently. When I did read them, I was quickly caught up in the action and enjoyed them all immensely. Here is a link to his site--you can see the synopsis of his books--they are all action stories based on science.

On Amazon, you can sign an agreement and upload your ebook. It is cautionary--there have been some stinkers, but I have found more that I like than not. Many of them have the books at .99 cents or less so it's not like I lose anything by trying them--delete is always available.
