Anyone know of any Science Fiction books that deal with isolation in space?

Unread post

Just as the subject asks. I wouldn't know how to go about searching for books of this type. Think "Lost in Space" or other books dealing with the unknown of space, crashing onto mysterious planets or long periods of isolation in space. Another reference I could give would be "Like the movie Moon".

Thank you!

Well dealing with the unknown in space or crash-landing on alien worlds are both topics with a long history in the literature, especially older golden-age sci-fi. You specifically want ones that deal with solitude and alone-ness Robinson Crusoe style? I know I've read scores that might fit either catagory, but I'm drawing a metal blank right now.

Thank you for the replies!

Admittedly, I probably would have enjoyed reading Solaris but have already seen the film, so I don't know how that would affect my experience.

I've always been fascinated with the topic, and know of a few popular classics that deal with isolation in space, but haven't come across any books recently.

Not necessarily "alone-ness", but perhaps complete and total unknown or uncertainty in regards to space or planets, even worlds. Unexpected planetary discoveries.
