Hmm, I have always loved to read, ever since my mother started reading to me. She read me so many and I loved them all. We used to read Stinky Feet everynight before bed. So I guess that one was my favorite. Also, The Little Engine That Could. I loved that one.

My childhood book was a collection of ancient Greek myths. I knew it by heart at the age of 8 and it was the first book I've ever fallen asleep reading :)
I also had another anthology of legends from around the world I simply loved.

Recently I've rediscovered all the books that have something to do with rabbits ;)
And so we have: "The Velveteen Rabbit", "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" and naturally "The Tale of Peter Rabbit". How cute are these books?
"From childhood's hour I have not been as others were
I have not seen as others saw
I could not bring my passions from a common spring
From the same source I have not taken my sorrow
I could not awake my heart to joy at the same tone
And all I loved - I loved alone"

As a very young child I was really fond of anything by Arnold Lobel, especially Mouse Tails and Owl at Home. They were a little creepy for kids just knowing how to read and stuck with me for a long time.

And I'm pretty sure I still know most of Dr. Seuss's ABC's from memory

This was such a fun topic. I'm throwing a baby shower this weekend with a TON of people and we're playing an ice breaker game where everyone has a children's book character on their back that they have to guess with yes or no questions to other party-goers and this thread gave me a lot of ideas.

One of my favorites that I forgot to mention was Harold and the Purple Crayon. GREAT imaginative book!
