I'm shocked that more members are claimingto be Republicans than Democrats. Most of the strong arguments on our boards seem to reflect the liberal perspective.Chris "The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them"

Maybe liberals are more outspoken than conservatives, because it sure seems like nobody on this forum supports Bush or conservatism in general. I find the same scenario when in the religion chat rooms on Yahoo. And we know that Bush is currently leading in the polls. I just find it confusing that almost all Internet talk is supporting Kerry.Chris "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandella

Chris, it's probably just the places you frequent online. I'm sure there are plenty of conservative boards where conservatives gather. Or maybe it's a personality thing of people who tend to be conservative tend not to have the type of personality that enjoys internet chat rooms and discussion boards. I don't know if that's a possibility, but I do know that my family is filled with conservatives, and I can't think of a single one of them that frequents chat or boards (that I know of, anyway). They are definitely outspoken in person.Speaking of family, my mother is a Democrat and my father is a Republican. Is it unusual for that to happen? I am an independent. I used to lean sort of towards more towards Republican, but I have gradually migrated the other way, because of social issues. As far as economics go, I still sort of lean right. But when it comes time to vote, I often don't even get to the economic issues because I would never vote for someone who is anti-abortion or anti-gay rights. That doesn't make me Democrat by default, does it?

It might be that Republican party is changing and many people feel alienated because what they once felt was their party is suddenly stands for things people cannot agree with. You might want to take a look at this article:We're Not in Lake Wobegon Anymore By Garrison KeillorThank you.Kostya

I'm proud to not be affiliated with any particular political party. I'm obviously an independent. I don't like labeling myself a conservative or a liberal. It seems unproductive to me.

Most here will view me as a right wing nut job. But I think I am with Ann Coulter when she said, I think I am a moderate and everyone else is nuts. I would prefer that Bush be more conservative. Ronald Reagan is my hero. Friends with Mac but have been known to butt heads with her over the feminism issue. Edited by: trav5787 at: 10/22/04 3:17 pm

I'm a hard-line right-wing fanatic and proud member of the vast right-wing conspiracy! Actually, I enjoy politics -- which certifies I'm nuts! However, I suffer from crippling bouts of logic and common sense and am unmoved by demagoguery. The liberal socialist professors in college failed miserably to indoctrinate me. (But I'll give them an A+ for effort. )But, I am a feminist! A conservative pro-life feminist. How'd that happen? Now I'm rulingfor the hatchling!
