Re: Hi From UK
Peter, How are things going with your book? Did that University ever get back to you? I hope that things are going smoothly. It seems, from your posts and excerpts that you are writing this book for all of the right reasons. I have always loved writing. Unfortunately I have not written anything since college! Maybe I'll get inspired one day...

Re: Hi From UK
I recently watched a TV documentary about Darwin and it said (something like) that he thought that people who are more nationalistic might be more likely to die in wars. This is something I definately need to know for my book. I've broken off reading Russell to find out what exactly he said and where he said it. I read "the Origin" a while ago and I'm sure it isn't in there. I've just read Darwin's autobiography and it isn't in there either, so I'm reading "The Descent of Man" now. Anyone know where I might find the answer?

Sophies's World
Just saw your reference to Sophie's World earlier in this thread. If you can make your subject as accessible as Jostein Gaarder makes philosophy in that book, you'll definitely be on to a winner. Let us know if it gets published - I'll be wanting a copy. P.SYour book could be our discussion book when it comes out - that way the author would definitely be available!

Re: Sophies's World
PeterI would try to find an online version of The Descent of Man so that you can run a search of the entire text. Try to search for words like "war" and "nationalist" and "nationalistic." You'll find what you're looking for fast. Here it is online. And another.Yet another.Good luck Peter.
