No, sure didn't. I vaguely recall that film but wasn't inclined to run out & see it. Is this is getting to be like the six degrees from Kevin Bacon thing?Saffron wrote:Did you know, the young actor that played Sebastian Flyte, Ben Whishaw, in Brideshead Revisited 2008 version is the actor playing John Keats in the new film about him.DWill wrote:I remember the British production of Brideshead Revisited shown here on PBS as being very faithful to the book and an excellent film.

I agree completely!A few lines of great dialogue, or discription from a great writer is worth more than a thousand moving picture frames. I think oftentimes, when reading fiction, our own imaginations are better than what they come up with in Hollywood. We tend to identify with characters, and many times those characters disapoint in the movie theatre.

Check out Stephen King's "the Mist" which came out, i believe, in 2007.
Based on a short story. The effects are a little sub-par, considering the likes of Lord of the Rings, but it is one of the more effective horror movies i have seen recently.
Also, check out "The Watchmen", based off the graphic novel of the same name. It varries from the graphic novel to a degree, but nothing too agregious and i believe it was better for it.

Are you pushing your own short comings on us and safely hating them from a distance?
Is this the virtue of faith? To never change your mind: especially when you should?
Young Earth Creationists take offense at the idea that we have a common heritage with other animals. Why is being the descendant of a mud golem any better?

The Bible was really bad
The movie, The Bible was bad.
The movie, The Ten Commandments was also bad in so far as it butchered the story.
On the other hand, Ben Hur was well done except for CH's overacting.

Re: Books and Movies
We had to watch Bridge on the River Kwai in French class. Go figure.
Back to topic: I am generally disappointed in movies made from books with a few exceptions such as To Kill a Mockinbird, or Gone With the Wind. Some movies I refuse to see because I enjoyed the book and don't want to ruin it by seeing a sub-par movie, such as The Time Traveler's Wife.
