And let's not forget the dark side of Jesus' Moral Code for the age of Pisces either:
"Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's foes will be those of his own household. He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me."

Mt. 10:34-37

"If any one comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple."

Lk. 14:26

"I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled!... Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division; for henceforth in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three; they will be divided, father against son, and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against her mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."

Lk. 12:49-53
How moral is all of this sword slinging, fire burning, family and self oriented hatred? It isn't. And therefore yes, there is good reason to assert that a new Moral Code aimed at a new world age is well in order for future generations of religionists. The contradiction is completely over the top between Jesus on the one hand saying "Turn the other cheek", "Put down the sword", "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you", 'That which you've done unto the least of these my bretheren, you have also done unto me' and then going off into the above quoted ego rants. But apparently these major contradictions are merely the result of the human contradiction involved with creating these various religious myths. Some saw Peace as the way to go while others the Sword, and so both were tossed into this mythology with no regard for the exposure of contradiction that it created. The same is true of just about every other errant contradiction to be found, and there are many.

You might remember that Leviticus was written as offerings and feasts that the Jews were required to observe. It has no direct application to gentiles. Are either you or RT Jewish?

Perhaps it would be helpful to actually know something about the Bible befor pontificating against it.

You spelled defecating wrong.

You're right, though. I haven't read the Bible in a very long time and don't have a thorough grasp of what's inside it. I will reread it one day. It'll have a part in my life long dream of compiling moral teachings into one large book that every father can read to his child at night.

If you are serious about compiling such a book that is a noble ambition.

Yup, off-topic, this is something I've been thinking about for a very long time and hopefully I'll finish one day. There have already been books made that are similar to the one I will compile but mine will be my own! :) It will include stories, letters, quotes, and conversations all aimed at not only showing examples on how to live a virtuous life in a moral sense but to give a strong idea of what our Founding Father's wanted for this country.

One thing that need be made is a list of everything moral and immoral in both the OT and NT. Place them side by side. Which would be the longer list? I'd bet the immoral list wins hands down. The bible, at best, can only honestly be described as a partially moral book. Perhaps a venture like commancho is suggesting could consist of taking everything positive from the bible and all other faiths, leaving out the negative altogether, and see what we'd be looking at. Would it apply to a social morality relevant by today's standards? Perhaps...

I know why we place so much emphasis on the Bible and it has more to do with Men than God.

My pet idea of introducing a book that shows us what we've learned on how to live righteously should, by including many different resources, show how man has been in search of this correct way of living for some time and that different paths have been taken to attempt its achievement. It will also show that being 'good' has no regional, racial, or theological prerequisite.

The adherence to archaic religious laws should change but religious texts shouldn't be forgotten or their value as a man-made attempt at a recipe for living a good life be at all diminished - it's our history and it should be cherished. It's just the previous version and a point we are left with to proceed or to discard and start anew.

The book won't be light on its loafers either. It won't turn a blind cheek to injustice and won't indulge in selective/hypocritical deeds. It should make a very clear distinction between individuals and masses and not group one with the other. It will recognize evil and promote its education or in extreme cases, eradication. To put one's person in jeopardy will never be for material gains but for righteous purposes only which the book will make very clear. Righteous and unrighteous wars will be thoroughly discussed. The idea of a single life and how because there is no afterlife the importance of living the best life you can will be stressed on almost every page. Honor, friendship, loyalty, respect for elders, respect for others and their accomplishments, cheering righteousness, protecting those that are in the right (not merely the weak) will all be discussed. This is in addition to many questions people commonly have when growing up such as ethically challenging scenarios that beg us to give in to less than righteous behavior. The book should prove to be quite large.

I think I edited this thing like 20 times. lol.

Religion is always about humanity.

Oh we like to talk about how great god is, but in the end, who's god's favorite little creation? You are, arent you! Oh your special! Yes you are! Yes! Yes you are! Who's got opposable thumbs, huh? Who does?! You do! Just look at you with your own little world to live in, and animals to eat, and we even made women for you to do whatever you want with!

God created all the universe for us to live in? He controls everything everywhere, but he gave us free will because he loves us so much and lets us, alone in all creation, do whatever we want even if it hurts us because he loves us so much? We are the center of all creation in religion. Its an absurd, self-centered appeal to our own ego.

God is nothing more than our imginary friend which we cooked up to make us feel like the most popular princess in all the world. This enormously powerful uncle who has the whole universe to run but really can't wait to hear what we did today. All the people we met, all the good things we did, and to chastise us for the bad things we did. Because despite being the summation of everything anywhere and at anytime, he still cares enough to tell us to be nice to one another.

Awww... arent we special.

Bullshit.
In the absence of God, I found Man.

Are you pushing your own short comings on us and safely hating them from a distance?

Is this the virtue of faith? To never change your mind: especially when you should?

Young Earth Creationists take offense at the idea that we have a common heritage with other animals. Why is being the descendant of a mud golem any better?
